What the Foundation has meant to the youth we serve:
Dear Close Foundation: Thank you for funding our trip to Ice World last week. We all had a blast and really enjoyed ourselves. I don't get to ice skate as much as I'd like to, so it was cool having the whole rink to myself. I hope your holiday was great. - Alt. Ed. Student, KF
Dear Close Foundation: Thank you for donating the money for my school to do to Golden Corral for our honor roll luncheon. All of the students that were able to attend had a great time, and got to eat something besides that "not so good" cafeteria food. Students and staff appreciate it greatly here at Alt. Ed. - Alt. Ed. Student, KF
Dear Close Foundation: Several classmates and I went to the aquarium and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had the opportunity to take the time out of our classroom education and turned it into something even better, learning about and actually seeing the animals underwater. Without your grant, we wouldn't have had the chance to experience that and I would like to thank you. - Alt. Ed. Student, TD
Dear Board Members: Once again, I would like to express our appreciation for your financial support. The Albert P. Close Foundation has encouraged Addiction Connections Resource (ACR) with not only their financial support, but with their belief in our organization. I would especially like to convey our gratitude to Carol Frontera and Mike Thatcher who have advocated for ACR and our mission for the last few years. Everyone at ACR is not only thankful for the collaboration that exists between Harford County non-profits, but also enjoy the opportunities to interact with them. I look forward to continuing our relationship in the future, and again ACR is truly grateful for the Albert P. Close Foundation. - Linda Williams, Executive Director, ACR
Dear Carol (Frontera): This note is to "thank you" again for your generous gift to SAGE to help at-risk students in Harford County realize their dreams to further their post secondary education. I am confident that those worthy recipients of your grant will be very appreciative and successful in their quests to complete a trade certification to enable them to pursue a career and make a living wage. Your organization is a wonderful group. Harford County is very fortunate to have your enthusiasm and support! I am looking forward to the time when the students can personally thank and share their success stories with you. Marge Pearce and I are truly grateful for the opportunities you have afforded some of our young people to take the "next step" after obtaining a high school diploma to become successful members of their families and communities. We and others appreciate all of your kindnesses. I, personally, am very appreciative as I knew Judge Close and I am sure he would be very happy with the young people his foundation is serving. - Boo Hopkins Chrismer, Executive Director, SAGE Group
Dear Carol and Board Members: Words can not express how thankful we are at Family and Children's Services - Harford County for the generous grant provided by the Close Foundation! Thank you so much for again helping to fund our School Outreach and Advocacy Program (SOAP Level II), especially with our expansion into the Alternative Education Program this year! - Jennifer Redding, Director, Family and Children's Services - Harford County
To the Close Foundation: I am running out of ways to say thank you for all the support your foundation has given our school. In all my years of teaching I have never known any organizations who have displayed your generosity. And I have taught a long time! Thank you all. We at Alternative Education love you and wish you the happiest of holidays. I only hope that Santa Claus is as generous to you as you are to us! - Ann Cymek, teacher, Alternative Education
